What it is
How laser tattoo removal works
The laser delivers short pulses of light energy to the ink sitting in the skin. That energy breaks the pigment into smaller particles, which your body gradually clears away over the weeks after each session — so the tattoo fades little by little.

How it works
What to expect
These are the general steps. Your technician will explain exactly what's involved for you at your consultation.

Consultation
We look at the tattoo, your skin and your medical history, talk through what you'd like achieving, and check that treatment is suitable for you.

Patch test
A patch test is carried out so we can see how your skin responds before a full session is booked in.

Treatment
The area is cleaned and the laser is passed over the ink, breaking the pigment up so your body gradually clears it. Sessions are short and you can go back to your day afterwards.

Review
The ink fades gradually over the weeks after each session. At your review we look at how it's clearing and decide together whether another session is needed.
Aftercare
After your session
Follow the advice given to you at your appointment. This is the standard tattoo removal aftercare.
Immediate aftercare
- Keep it clean and dry, use non-scented soap and warm water. Dry with paper towels thoroughly.
- If it is feeling hot apply a cold compress to the area for 10 minutes to reduce the heat.
- Limit physical activity.
Long term aftercare
- Do not pick or scratch the area as this can cause scarring which makes removal harder.
- Keep it well moisturised — I recommend Bio-Oil 10 days after or when any blisters have gone. This helps to reduce scarring and also helps with the removal process.
- Stay hydrated — a dehydrated body doesn't heal as well.
